Parts Of The Face Pasting Activity
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Activity Time: 15 minutes
Its best to cut the shapes (parts of the face) before inviting your child to do the activity. Watch this video tutorial on how to easily cut these shapes without a template.
Materials: mirror, large brown paper bag, black, red and beige construction paper, glue stick and scissors
The Process:
Invite your child to look into a small mirror. Ask him to point out the parts of his face. You may ask "Where is your nose?" or if he can already say the names of each part, ask, "What are these?" (eyes). Point out where the parts are located also. "Your mouth is above your chin." And if you both know a song about the parts of the face, sing too! We sing 'Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes' by Super Simple Songs because there's a part for parts of the face too.
Then present the materials to your child. Tell him that you will be making a face. Start by showing the circle. You may say; "This will be the face, let's put the parts!"
Allow your child to pick from the container and guess where it goes. You may opt to ask you child to arrange the parts first before you proceed to paste the shapes.
Oh do remember that it doesn't matter if the ears, nose and eyes are a little lopsided. We were just lucky that Teo was able to put the parts well. We actually practiced arranging them correctly first before pasting.
Point to the different parts of the face, or ask your child to name them - if they're still up to it. Teo just ran away from the table after, haha! He helped clean up after though.
Praise your child for his effort and for 'working really hard on the activity' and not for the finished product. Remember, the process is more important.
That's it! Don't forget to have fun!
